'Who is ready for the Big Society?' report

Summary: In February 2011, Consulting Inplace published, 'Who is ready for the Big Society?'

The report by Richard Sutcliffe and Richard Holt identifies the local authorities in England with the highest rates of volunteering and where people are most likely to feel involved in local decision-making, as well as areas where volunteering and involvement rates are lowest.

The research suggests that some places will find it harder to implement the Big Society than others, and that it is important to understand why that is, and to consider what can be done to help. As far as the East Midlands goes, Derbyshire Dales is listed as one of the top five local boroughs with the highest rates of volunteering.
