RADAR Stop Disability Hate Crime Project

Summary: Disability hate crimes and disability hate incidents have a profound affect on disabled people's lives.

Radar has decided to take practical action and work with disabled people’s organisation and the authorities to improve the recording and reporting of disability hate crime.

Radar has set up a project to develop a national independent disability hate crime reporting centre; and as a result minimum standards for such reporting centres; and raise disabled peoples’ awareness of disability hate crime and incidents and how to report them.

Radar needs help with two key issues:

Firstly, to map what disability hate crime third party reporting sites already exist or are considering setting up. Please email Radar at StopDHC@radar.org.uk or write to Stop DHC, Radar, 12 City Forum, 250 City Road, London EC1V 8AF with details of where you are based, a contact telephone number, email or postal address and a short paragraph about what your site provides. Radar would then like to contact you directly to discuss your site in more detail.

Secondly, Radar is conducting a survey to find out why disabled people don’t want to report disability hate crime and what would make them more confident to do so.

To request a copy of the survey in Easyread please e-mail or send contact details to StopDHC@radar.org.uk or Stop DHC, Radar, 12 City Forum, 250 City Road, London EC1V 8AF.
