Phasing out the default retirement age: Government reponse to consultation

Summary: The Coalition Agreement committed the Government to phasing out the default retirement age (DRA). To this end, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Department for Work and Pensions jointly issued a consultation document on 29 July 2010 with detailed proposals on how the phase-out should be implemented.

The consultation closed on 21st October 2010. This is the government's response to the consultation on the removal of the default retirement age, enabling and encouraging people to work for longer.
