Summary: On 31 October 2011, the National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) launched a report into violence against women and legal aid.
The report, ‘Legal Aid is a lifeline: Women speak out on the Legal Aid reforms’, was published to coincide with the report stage of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill.
Throughout the report, victims of domestic violence reiterate how access to legal aid secured their safety and protection in often life-threatening circumstances.
