Government LGB and T action plan

Summary: ‘Working for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equality: Moving Forward’ was published in March 2011. In June 2010, the Government published ‘Working for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equality’, setting out the challenges in tackling LGB&T inequality in all areas of society – in schools, at work, in sport and for families.

To build on that work, on 14 March 2011, Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone launched ‘Working for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equality: Moving Forward’ which sets out the actions Government is taking to tackle lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGB&T) inequality across government and in partnership with individuals, voluntary groups, communities, and business.

On 18 March, the Home Secretary, Theresa May, gave a speech at the Stonewall workplace conference.
