EDF invitation to test new vcs public sector equality duty materials

Summary: The Equality and Diversity Forum (EDF) and Citizens Advice are inviting colleagues to test new materials to help voluntary organisations use the Public Sector Equality Duty.

DF and Citizens Advice are developing an equality duty toolkit for voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations. Our aim is help VCS organisations use the new public sector equality duty to make sure that public bodies are tackling discrimination and advancing equality. We are doing this work on behalf of the Government Equalities Office (GEO).

As a follow up to the consultation we held in October, we are now developing specific tools and guides. The toolkit will be in three parts covering: what the equality duty means in practice; using the equality duty to engage with and influence public bodies; and using data to help hold public bodies to account for their equality performance. We are now looking for VSC organisations to help us test this draft toolkit.

The tools will be available for testing from 18-30 November and we will hold a feedback event on 1 December (1300-1600 in central London).

We are able to cover reasonable travel expenses to attend the feedback event together with a small honorarium of £85 to participants.

The closing date for registration is 17.00 on Friday 11 November.

We would be grateful if you could forward the attached invitation to any appropriate individuals within your networks.
