Derbyshire Friend - Job Opportunities

The following posts are funded until March 2012; you will be based in Derby and the project has been funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission and the Derby City PCT.

These posts are all part of an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of the support we provide. We are seeking to recruit a variety of individuals who will deliver, support and enhance local LGB&T services, infrastructure, capacity building as well as contribute at a regional and national level.

Chief Executive Officer £32,000 - 37 hours per week
To co-ordinate and support the capacity building of the LGB&T sector and provide support for service improvement and delivery in addressing the needs of LGB&T groups and organisations in Derbyshire and the East Midlands. The post involves infrastructure support for the wider LGBT Community. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic CEO with ideally a background in Strategic and business planning, who also has an understanding of the voluntary and statutory sector in relation to contract negotiation, funding and capacity building. The post holder would ideally also have a background in health and social care and have an understanding of policy and practise in these areas.

Rainbow Vision – Senior Project Officer £26,000 – 37 hours per week
To support best practice and policy development by co-ordinating the voice, representation and of services so the needs of LGB&T groups and organisations in Derbyshire and the East Midlands are being met and integrated. The post involves designing and co-ordinating services and training  that actively engage with LGB&T communities in particular around support, hate crime and same sex domestic abuse. The post also includes facilitating workshops around LGBT issues and the wider equality agenda and improving engagement of hard to reach communities.

Community Project’s Officer - £20,000 - 37 hours per week
To provide administration, centre support for the LGB&T Centre and Rainbow Vision Project. This includes a good understanding of IT packages, customer care and an ability to communicate effectively with others and taking responsibility. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team aiming to reduce isolation, incidences of harm and assault, and provide information, advice and support for LGB&T people their friends and families. The post will include direct support work, support planning and group work including our youth projects. The candidate is expected to have project and group-work experience and will involve working with partner agencies to ensure effective support. This role also encompasses our Sexual health outreach services and the successful applicant must be able to design and deliver innovative outreach sessions and have knowledge of HIV and STI prevention.

Both the Senior Project Officer and Community Project’s Officer roles will be considered for Job share
