Spending cuts campaigns and resources

Date: 17/2/2011
Summary: A number of organisations are campaigning against the Government's public spending cuts and compiling information on their impact.

‘All Together for Public Spending’ on the TUC website has information about the TUC’s campaign against the Government’s public spending cuts.

The TUC is organising a national march and rally on 26 March 2011, in response to the government’s programme of fast and deep public spending cuts. Click here for details of the March for an Alternative to cuts.

The TUC is also supporting False Economy, which is ‘for everyone concerned about the impact of the government’s spending cuts on their community, their family or their job’. The objectives of False Economy are: to gather and map information and personal testimony about the cuts and their effects; to show that there are alternative economic approaches; and to provide resources and tools for campaigners and campaign groups.

Voluntary Sector Cuts is a new collaborative project which maps intelligence about voluntary groups experiencing reductions in public sector funding. It is asking people to fill in a simple form to share their experiences of the cuts and the impact they will have. This contribution will help build a wider picture of the scale of the challenge ahead in communities, regionally and nationally.

Right to Work is a national campaign to stop the cuts, defend public services and the welfare state and fight for every job.
