Older persons' month launch

Date: 15/9/2011
Summary: Feedback from the older persons' month launch event held at Loughborough Town Hall - Thursday 8th September 2011

Regional Equality and Diversity Partnership ( REDP ) attended the above event. There were many other stalls set up in Loughborough Town Hall, the Co –operative Society, Vista, Department of Work and Pensions, British Legion, Red Cross and many more. A police officer was also present and available for any questions.

Each stall had plenty of information. Leaflets and advice were freely given.

Leicestershire County Council Trading Standards Services produced a lively musical, Stop the Scammers. Based on 3 true stories, it gave sound advice on how to avoid scams.

Then a light lunch was provided, followed by a talk on Care Homes. As we were stall holders, we were unable to attend. However, the feedback from the clients was good. If you watched East Midlands Today, then you would have seen some of the people being interviewed. Their views of the day were captured and all said it was a resounding success.

From REDP’s perspective new contacts were made. REDP will be attending “The Young at Heart Day” at Oaklands, Oadby on the 22nd September 2011. This is another event featuring in The Older Persons’ Month.
