The Equality Bill was presented in the House of Commons on 24th April 2009; the second reading on the 11th May put forward amendments which were heard at the committee stage during June. The new Equality Bill will generally apply in Scotland and Wales as well as in England. The Socio-economic Duty applies to England and Wales only.
