One East Midlands Partnership Event - Tuesday 1st March 2011
Summary: One East Midlands and East Midlands Councils invite you to attend our 2011 Spring Partnership Conference for Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) and local Public Sector partners.
"If the Big Society is to become reality then it is essential that the two sectors most able to support local action can work together to plug the gaps left by spending cuts whilst delivering effective and efficient services that meet local need and protect the most vulnerable in our communities."
Supported by the Big Lottery Fund, the Big Event will examine in detail how the VCS and the local public sector can work together to deliver the Government’s vision for the Big Society.
Event overview
Delegates will have the opportunity to:
- Learn from practical of examples of the VCS and public sector working in partnership at local level
- Explore the role of the VCS in delivering public services
- Ensure that the VCS and public sector can work together to identify local need and target services following public sector cuts.
Event programme
There will be opportunity to examine the relationship in general and to focus on developing key areas of overlap through the varied workshop menu, which includes:
- Effective third sector commissioning – Examining the successes of the Leicester Strategic Commissioning Framework and Derbyshire Contracts Advice Network
- Third sector infrastructure services – What does effective third sector infrastructure look like? What does it cost? How do we measure its impact?
- Public health – Addressing health inequalities. How can third sector and local authorities work together on prevention and improving health outcomes?
- Local Enterprise Partnerships – How they will work and how working with the third sector will improve their effectiveness?
- Asset transfer – Guidance on asset transfer and an examination of effective consultation and approaches.
- Strategic coordination of local funding – During a time of cuts it is vital that funders are local level are able to avoid duplication of funding and ensure that funds which are available continue to address local need. How is this best achieved?
- Planning – Community engagement.
